Sherwin Wins Ladies Ranking 3
The 3rd ladies ranking event took place in q’s on Saturday 6th December. Michelle & Katie French again met in the quarter-final. Michelle was too strong today for daughter Katie and comfortably won the match 3-0. Maria Murray played Ronda Sheldreck in a closely matched contest. Maria won the 1st and took the 2nd when ronda fouled on the final black.
Sherwin Wins Ladies Ranking event 2
The second ladies ranking event took place in Celbridge SC. Two of the new lady players made their 1st appearance in a semi-final. The first semi-final seen our first ever mother and daughter match as young Katie French took on her mother Michelle French. Michelle won the first frame comfortably but was pushed right to the end in the 2nd, only winning it on a closely fought black ball.
Sherwin Wins Ladies Ranking Event 1
The 1st ladies ranking event took place in Newbridge CYMS on Sunday 28th September. We would like to welcome our 3 new members, Ronda Sheldreck, Maria Murray and Katie French. Claire Mill beat Catherine Fitzsimons 3-0, winning the 1st frame well; but having to scrap and fight for the next 2 to secure her place in the semi’s. Newcomers Maria Murray and Katie French were drawn against each other. Maria won the match, but the frames were on the black in a very close match.
Sherwin Wins 11th Ladies Championship
Michelle Sherwin retained the Irish Ladies Championships trophy with a superb display in the Ivy Rooms Snooker in Carlow tonight. Michelle Sherwin played the Irish No.2 Claire Mill in the final. Michelle won the opening two frames but Mill fought back to win the third, back came Sherwin to win the next two frames to claim her 11th title. The Referee was Stephen Ryan who refereed his first national final and did an excellent job.
Sherwin Wins Ladies 6 Red Title
The ladies national 6 reds championships was held at Newbridge CYMS on Sunday 13th April. Matches were played on a round-robin basis, each match being 2 frames, with the top 2 players after the round-robin stage playing each other in a best of 7 final.
Mill Wins Final Ladies Ranking Event
The final ladies ranking event of the season was held in Q’s S.C. on Sunday 23rd March. The 1st semi-final was between Annette Newman and Emirjeta Doda. Annette won the 1st frame comfortably, but the 2nd frame was a battle to the black ball. Emirjeta got the 1st good chance to pot it into the green pocket but narrowly missed the pot and left Annette on to take an easy black and go 2-0 ahead. Annette then went on to win the next frame and take the match 3-0.
Sherwin Wins Ladies Ranking Event (4)
The 4th Ladies ranking event took place in Newbridge CYMS on Sunday 26th January. Michelle French played Emeirjeta Doda in the q-final. The 1st frame was very close all the way through and Michelle had to rely on her nerve and experience to finally win it on the black. She settled down then and although Emirjeta played some excellent snooker, Michelle comfortably won the next 2 frames to win 3-0 and set up a semi-final match with Claire Mill.
Sherwin wins Ladies Ranking Event 3
The 3rd ladies ranking event took place in Q’s SC Clondalkin on Sunday 8th December. Michelle French faced Catherine Fitzsimons in the first q-final. It was a very even match throughout, with some excellent safety play from both girls. Catherine got the better of Michelle in the end winning the match 3-0. The other q-final seen number 3 seed Annette Newman taking on youngster Emirjeta Doda.
Sherwin wins Ladies Event 2
The second RIBSA ranking event of the year was held in Breakers,Gorey on Sunday 17th Nov. There were 7 entries. Q-final 1 seen Claire Mill taking on 14 year old newcomer Emirjeta Doda. Emirjeta was solid and showed why she will be a force to be reckoned with in the future, by pulling off some fantastic shots in the match, however Claire won the match 3-0. In the same half of the draw Annette Newman took on 13year old Emily Bolger.
Sherwin wins Ladies Ranking Event 1
The 1st ladies ranking event of the season was held in Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday 20th October. There were a fantastic 9 entries in the competition. Two of these were complete newcomers,14yr old Emirjeta Doda from Dublin and 13 year old Emily Bolger also from Dublin. We also welcomed the return of Irish ladies veteran player Annette Newman, who made her return to the ladies game after far too long of an absence.
Sherwin Wins 2013 Ladies Championship
Michelle Sherwin from Q’s SC in Dublin won the 2003 RIBSA National Ladies Snooker Championship in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow. In the final she beat Sandra Bryan from Breakers SC Gorey 4 frames to 1 in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
Ladies 6 Red Championships
The 6 Reds National Championship took place in Breakers Gorey on Saturday 27th April. Matches were on a round robin basis, with a point being awarded per frame won, and the top 2 after the round robin phase playing off for the title in the Final. Newcomer Emily Talbot, a 12yr old from New Institute in Nenagh performed fantastically well for her 1st tournament, taking frames off both Sandra Bryan and Michelle Sherwin.
